IVF and ET (In Vitro Fertilization and embryotransfer)

In year 1978 after many preparations and attempts thanks to doctors R. Edwars and P. Steptoe the first child was born thanks to IVF and ET method. 

IVF is a complex of techniques and procedures during which is manipulated with germ cells – oocytes and sperms – outside of the woman body. That is why this medical area is called "In Vitro Fertilization".

The IVF treatment is suitable for couples having trouble getting pregnant for more than one year and when pregnancy by other methods is unlikely or excluded. Usually it’s introduced after unsuccessful treatment by other methods (IUI).

The IVF treatment is sophisticated process which allows women with broad variety of fertility disorders to get pregnant. Typically it’s these situations: blocked fallopian tubes, ovaries disorders, endometriosis and sperm production disorders. This method is suitable for less common fertility disorders.

The basic IVF procedure:

After hormonal preparation, which is necessary for maturing the highest possible amount of oocytes are these before ovulation picked up from ovaries into special cultivation solutions, where are later added partner’s sperms for fertilization processes. After fertilization occurs cultivation of fertilized oocytes (embryos) in special solutions where the fertilization process occurs naturally without any outside intervention. Embryos are afterwards transferred into uterus.
