What is the infertility caused by?

With men the problem is mostly represented by disorder of sperm creations and lack of their mobility and quality. The disorders of ovulation (release of the egg), disorders of the transport of egg cell (impassability of Fallopian tubes mostly share in the women infertility. Only a small number of cases are caused by abnormity of uterine throat or womb.

When can be the couple considered to be infertile?

Nor the totally healthy man and woman have in one menstruation cycle a probability to be made pregnant higher than 25 percent. Man can consider the couple to be infertile only when their efforts is not successful nor after one year of unprotected sexual intercourses.

What is assisted reproduction?

Assisted reproduction is represented by such procedures during which handling directly with germ cells - eggs or sperms are at issue. The easiest one is the so-called intrauterine insemination, e.g. injection of sperms as near to the plot of egg fertilization as possible, and that by means of catheter directly into the womb. The conditions are intact Fallopian tubes.

What is in vitro fertilization?

The in vitro fertilization consists in a taking of egg cell from the ovary, missing with sperm in live solution and injection of fertilized egg (embryo) into the uterine mucous membrane.

How many embryos are injected into the womb?

In the most cases it is 2 embryos, if available, another are frozen. 1 to 2 embryos usually hold in the womb.

Is the in vitro fertilization covered by the health insurance?

Three main cycles of artificial fertilization are paid from the sources of health insurance. If the transfer of embryo does not appears (the cycle is not finished) in any of these attempts, one another substitute attempt is paid.
One attempt costs about 22 500,- Czech crowns, drugs amount to another 8 000,- to 20 000,- Czech crowns. In addition to the main cycle it is possible to carry out another services that increase the probability of success. These are not however paid by the insurance company.

How does the age of the patient influence payment made by the insurance company?

The age limit is 22 to 39 years, in the case of impassability of Fallopian tubes it is 18 years.

What is the successfulness of becoming pregnant after the in vitro fertilization like?

Successfulness reaches up to about 35 to 40 percent, which is better than becoming pregnant with a healthy couple in the course of one menstruation cycle.

Is the test tube fertilization of the same successfulness even with the couples by which the built is on the side of man, eventually infertility is cause by a low quality of his sperms?

Yes, provided that micro-handling techniques are used (ICSI - injection of sperms directly into the heart of the egg, which is an output that is not paid from the health insurance and amounts to 8 000,- Czech crowns.

What if the ejaculate does not contain any sperms?

Even then nothing is lost. A sucking off from epididymis or withdrawal of sperms from testicle can be carried out by means of microsurgical technology.

Is it possible to replace the germ cell by donored cell?

Of course, we suggest it to the couple if this substitution can markedly increase the probability of becoming pregnant.

In how long after the transfer of the embryos into the womb can we find out that the implantation was successful?

It is possible as soon as 2 weeks after the injection of embryos into the womb. It is found out according to the level of gravidity hormone.
