Gyncentrum Ostrava s.r.o. was founded as soon as in 1993 as a complex of gynaecological out-patients clinics providing a full range of services in the field of general gynaecology and obstetrics. Since 1994 the facility opened its unit for the in vitro fertilization (in vitro fertilization and embryo-transfer - IVF and ET). In the course of the year 1995 this unit became the main part of Gyncentrum Ostrava and it obtained a full-value qualification from the Section of assisted reproduction with the Czech medical company of Jan Evangelista Purkyně (ČLS JEP).

In the same year contracts with all the insurance companies operating in the Czech Republic were concluded and the operation of the unit became stabilized as far as results comparable to the rest of the IVF centres in this country as well as abroad. In the Moravian-Silesian Region the facility is a unique facility providing the above mentioned services. The 22-member team consists of six gynaecologists, four embryologists, an urologist, anaesthetist and specialist in internal diseases - endocrinologist. The rest of the professional team is made up by a medical and unskilled staff.

In 1997 a technology of the injection of the sperms into the egg - intracystic-plasmatic injections of the sperms was put in practice, which represented a large progress in the treatment of men infertility and since 2001 the centre has a laser device for handling the fertilized eggs (embryos) in its possession. This technology increases a probability of success during achieving gravidity. Since 2002 Gyncentrum Ostrava is a holder of the ISO 9001:2000 certificate and it annually meets the requirements of the certificate.
